Tis the season for awards! Painting companies and painting product manufacturers have been honored for their many accomplishments over the past year or so, and it’s our pleasure to highlight some of the winners.

National Hardware Show Retailers Choice Awards
The NHS takes place every Q1 in Las Vegas and is the largest trade show for hardware retailers, which includes independent pant stores. The Retailers Choice Awards are given by the North American Hardware and Paint Association (NHPA) and spotlight products that retailers are high on. Here are a few that might be of interest to painters. Keep in mind, these retailers are courting both pros and DIYers…and the descriptions below come from the manufacturers, not APC.

• SD Home’s Perfect Wall Patch is an easy-to-use patching compound, just a little water and a bit of elbow grease make short work of repairs without hassle and mess.
• The Climb-N-Go from Metaltech was designed to eliminate the need to get off the scaffold to move it, and without the need for a freight elevator.
• A patented design allows painters to hold the Rite-Grip Roller Brush with a natural hand position. This reduces soreness and fatigue associated with painting.
• Allway Tools’ Telescopic Bucket System lets you move a bucket up and down between 3.2 and 9.5 feet, allowing for safer and easier painting on a ladder or on lower surfaces.

Painting Contractor Appreciation Month
Benjamin Moore has designated March as Contractor Appreciation Month. “During this time, Benjamin Moore and the locally owned retailers who sell our products will show gratitude and partnership in support of hardworking painting contractors,” says the company. You can get involved by filling out the form at Contact Your Local Contractor Rep | Benjamin Moore. The company is promising new products, giveaways, fun events, raffles, breakfast, lunch, and more; much of that activity will center at your nearby Benjamin Moore retailer.

Recognizing their own
Bazan Painting, a nationwide residential and commercial company based in St. Louis, Missouri, has its employees award its own, as they vote anonymously on winners in a number of categories, some you may not have even thought of. “Each year we ask our employees to vote on categories for our Annual Craftsman Awards. This is a way for our field employees to recognize other field personnel for their individual talents,” says the company. Awards are given in categories such as Best Foreman, Best Taper, Best Attitude, Best Paperwork, and even Best Painter Who Returns Equipment in Good Condition. 

CREST Awards recognize safety
FCA International is the Finishing Contractors Association, a group of signatory contractors. FCA’s CREST awards recognize companies with a significant commitment to safety based on criteria such as written safety programs, having a safety representative, training, and OSHA log data. Some of the top finishers of 2022 include Innovative Painting and Waterproofing, Santa Fe Springs, California; Bazan Painting of St. Louis, Missouri; S&S Coatings of Spokane, Washington; and Vulcan Painters of Bessemer, Alabama.

Old World Painting wins local award
Finally, many painting companies win local awards. For example, Old World Painting won the Best of Collingdale (Pennsylvania) Award in the Painting Contractor category of 2022. “Being granted the award for best in the Painting Contractor category has given us here at Old World Painting a new sense of empowerment as a small, local business. We’re also honoured to be among many other reputable small businesses that excel in their field as service providers,” said the company.
