It's a different ballgame when it isn't wood. Justin Poole needed to ensure that the topcoat would stick to these PVC trim boards.
While some newer substrate materials are designed to last longer, it’s important to know what coatings system will allow them to perform at their best. “Our customer needed some PVC trim boards painted for a project where they will be installed at an exterior location that has a high moisture exposure,” said Justin Poole, co-owner of Allied Painting Contractors in Elgin, Illinois.
That's a happy contractor priming PVC!
“We needed to pre finish them inside because of winter weather. First we applied two coats of Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond Primer, which was necessary because of the non-porous nature of the PVC Material. This is used to create a strong bond for the topcoat. After that we applied two coats of Sherwin- Williams Exterior Emerald Gloss.”
