Brick City Painting

Papering a Distinctive and Demanding Brand

High-end wallcoverings, and lots of them, made this retail project stand apart.

The Victoria’s Secret/Pink store opening in the Columbia Mall in Columbia, Mo., needed to meet the standards of the recognizable brand. The project demanded installation of 2,000 square feet of wallcovering on nearly every wall — and some of the ceilings.

Wallpaper was applied everywhere, including some ceilings.

Brick City Painting & Drywall was called in to apply multiple high-end residential papers, including a Maya Romanoff product featuring silica mica chips. Each of these wallcoverings required specific application techniques to assure proper adhesion and appearance. Given the Brick City crew’s extensive training on wallcovering applications, including techniques for boutique papers, this crew had a definite advantage in avoiding any problems that could have otherwise arisen.

High-end wallpaper demanded special application techniques.

Brick City also was responsible for painting ceilings and 1,000 linear feet of trim. The trim posed a particular challenge as it had to be prepped and painted after it was installed on the already wallpapered walls, not the ideal order. However, this sequencing was necessary as the Brick City crews could only work on the time-sensitive project as other trades completed their work. This posed the single greatest challenge on the project, as it fell on the painters to finish the project on time, regardless of any delays getting started. It took long hours across several days to get the project completed in time for the new store’s grand unveiling.

Before and after the store was stocked.
