Colorful remodel in a bank building

Vivid colors inspire creativity in this office space.

You can’t stop the money – the bank on the first floor needed to remain open while SPI did a makeover on the second for Shift Workspaces, a forward-looking office space design company. And while painters don’t work “bankers hours,” the timing was of great importance. “We had to plan access and deliveries of materials to fit within allocated jobsite hours,” said company owner Gina Koert. “COVID presented its own issues. There was schedule stacking, project closures due to precautions, and other trades working on top of one another so everyone could meet constraints while trying to keep crews safe.” To accomplish this, Koert and company juggled shift sizes and work hours, still making sure to deliver top quality work on time.

“Shift Workspaces includes private offices, coworking space, meeting rooms and event space that encourages collaboration,” said Koert. “The architect wanted to create spaces that fostered creativity.” This led to some embracingly deep colors and stunning results.

The crew, staggered in terms of power and hours, painted all the gypsum walls, ceilings, and soffits. They sprayed the exposed structure ceilings and mechanical ducts with dryfall. They also installed all the custom-printed wall covering graphics and even a faux metal ceiling – also wallpaper, but it’s hard to tell!

It looks like paint, but this ceiling is actually custom printed wallpaper.   The crew worked in small shifts and varying hours in ensure COVID-safe protocol. A thought-provoking combination of building materials and deep colors.
